Gulmarg Gondola
The Kongdori-Gulmarg Gondola, one of the major attractions in Gulmarg, is the second-longest and second-highest cable car ride in the world. The ride is broken up into two stages in which it transports passengers to and from the Apharwat Mountain, which is the location of the majority of the winter sports in Gulmarg.
The Gondola cable car journey, the second highest and second-longest of its kind on earth, is Gulmarg's main draw. When you prepare your itinerary for travel, you cannot miss this absolutely captivating experience. The journey is split into two parts, with the first phase taking you from Gulmarg Resort to Kongdoori Station, the hub, and the second phase taking you from Kongdoori Mountain to Apharwat Peak.
Phase 1 begins at a height of 2,990 metres and then rises vertically by 400 metres.
Phase 2 involves an additional climb of 1,330 vertical meters, bringing you to a height of almost 4,000 metres.
In the first section, the Gondola ferries about 1500 passengers an hour to a height of 3,100 m. At this altitude, you can access some of the simpler skiing expeditions, while the second part of the ride lifts passengers to a height of almost 4,000 metres at a rate of about 600 passengers per hour. Once there, you can hike for an additional 30 minutes to the mountain's summit to get a better look at the Line of Control (LOC), which is visible from here.
In addition to the LOC, here you can engage in other activities like horseback riding and skiing and experience stunning views of the Nanda Devi and the Pir Panjal Range.
