Langkawi, Malaysia - Wanderela

Langkawi is a 99-island archipelago that is located about 30 kilometers off the coast of Malaysia. It is commonly recognized by its title as the 'Jewel of Kedah'. The first recorded history of this sea-fed island dates back to the 14th century, and it has a strong connection to the Kedah Sultanate throughout its history. The island is located very next to the border with Thailand. 

The natural allure of Langkawi, in addition to the enchantment of its bustling urban setting, contributes equally to the city's overall aesthetic appeal. On the one hand, the allure of the city is overshadowed by the turquoise Andaman sea and the steep cliffs that border it on all sides; on the other hand, the glittering lights of the expanding cityscape keep the Langkawi night alive.

It should come as no surprise that the natural attractions of Langkawi make up the city's most valuable assets. Hiking routes and breathtaking vistas of the city can be found atop Langkawi's highest mountain, Gunung Raya, which is also the island's most prominent geographical feature. The island is also home to a variety of magnificent waterfalls, some of which have a direct connection to the fabled traditions that are associated with Langkawi. In addition to these, the nearby smaller islands, like as Pulau Bokor and Pulau Payar, are also wonderful options for day trips when departing from Langkawi. 

Langkawi is always teeming with activity, despite the fact that it is only a very tiny island. It would be a shame to waste a trip to the island by skipping out on the beaches, which are famous for the seaside bars, restaurants, and activities that are available there. Langkawi is a famous tourist destination not just because it is a duty-free archipelago, but also because of the affordable shopping opportunities it provides, both at its multi-story retail center and at the night markets located across the island. The Langkawi Cable Car Ride is another one of the island's most popular tourist attractions, and it is highly respected for the spectacular vistas it provides. 

The climate of Langkawi is rather consistent throughout the year, with only minor shifts in temperature and humidity from one season to the next. In point of fact, the seasons in Langkawi may be broken down into two separate groups: those that are wet and those that are dry. The months of November through March make up the dry season, which features much less instances of precipitation overall.
