Overview

Gata Loops is a location that can be found along the Leh-Manali Highway. The tales that are told about it are eerie, and there have been occasions when they have been terrifying. The Gata Loops are a sequence of 21 hairpin bends that lead to the summit of Nakee La, one of the highest motorable passes in the Ladakh region. Gata Loops is situated 5300 meters above sea level, which places it at an elevation of 17000 feet above the level of the ocean. As a result, it offers visitors breathtaking views of snow-covered mountains in the background and an exciting adventure all the way up to the highest point.

According to the legend that surrounds the Gata Loops, there is a ghost that roams the roadway, and it has the ability to spook travelers. Because of this, it is customary for travelers to bring cigarettes and mineral water to the shack that the ghost calls home at the summit of the pass as a form of respect. People have presented offerings to the enigmatic spirit despite the fact that it is unknown whether or not the ghost is currently present. In spite of this, Gata Loops is a hazardous route that must be traversed, and during the winter months, the roadways will be impassable due to the persistent ice sheets that are present everywhere. The hairpin bends are extremely sharp, and it is inconceivably difficult to approach one loop from the other. However, descending the loops is significantly more exciting than ascending them.
