Locals also refer to Batukaru Temple as Pura Luhur Batukaru. It is one of Bali's most important churches and is at the base of Mount Batukaru, which gives it its name. At a height of 2,270m above sea level, the temple is on the second-highest peak in Bali, after Mount Agung. It is surrounded by cool natural trees, making it a great place for nature lovers to stop while traveling. Also, Jatiluwih, which has the most rice paddies on the island, is only two kilometers from the sanctuary. This makes it a popular stop on trips to Bali's central good lands.

The main part of Batukaru Temple is made up of many places of worship with stacked roofs. The complex is full of old buildings that are densely covered in green plants. The walled complexes have a few holy places, as well as high "meru" towers and "bunch" buildings with clearly old Balinese features, such as dark grass roofs and intricate wall paintings.

Inside the complex, there are a few small patios on different levels, connected by a series of flowering greenery cages and statue-lined steps.

Location: Pura Luhur Batukaru is located at Jalan Raya Batukaru, Wongaya Gede, Penebel, Wongaya Gede, Penebel, Kabupaten Tabanan, Bali 82152, Indonesia
