Sariska Wildlife Santuary

Sariska Wildlife Santuary

Overview

Alwar's Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary is a major draw for visitors. This refuge protects the majestic Royal Bengal tigers of Alwar and spans over 800 square kilometers. Grasslands, dry deciduous woods, cliffs, and rocky terrains make up the refuge. Wild dogs, jungle cats, chitel, nilgai, chausingha, sambar, chinkara, four-horned antelope, hanuman langurs, and rhesus monkeys are just some of the creatures that call this sanctuary home.

The endangered Indian Eagle-Owl is also protected at the refuge. However, the sanctuary's renown extends far beyond its plant and animal inhabitants. Inside the sanctuary are a number of ancient temples, which give the area an air of grandeur and mystery. Taking a hike through the animal preserve is an unforgettable adventure.
